Background Information

Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley (CCCSDV), a 501c(3) has been serving residents of the Delaware Valley for 42 years since 1966-helping our diverse community through tough financial times. CCCSDV is a non-profit organization that has helped close to a half million individuals and families gain control of their finances, reduce debt, and achieve financial goals. Our mission is to positively impact human lives and communities through comprehensive consumer credit education, counseling, asset building and debt reduction programs without regard to economic status.

CCCSDV is a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) and accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Service for Families and Children, Inc, a HUD and PA Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) approved agency, and member of the Better Business Bureau of Eastern PA and Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce (GPCC).

Headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, CCCSDV provides services in Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware, and Chester counties and in New Jersey, Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties in 10 offices. Our staff of 54 full-time employees along with our volunteer Board of Directors actively supports our mission and purpose to provide the best non-profit community service. Counseling is available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Vietnamese.

In 2007, CCCSDV provided 12,592 individual counseling sessions, either in-person, at one of its ten community offices, or over the telephone. We provided financial education programs in the communities we serve, reaching 13,831 individuals through workshops, presentations and community events in 2007.

Accomplishments

CCCSDV has been honored for its first-class counseling and community development programs throughout its 42-year history. The following is a sampling of some of our awards:

2007
CCCSDV President Patricia Hasson Appointed to The Federal Reserve Board Consumer Advisory Council (CAC)

Patricia Hasson was appointed to The Federal Reserve Board Consumer Advisory Council (CAC) for a three-year term beginning in 2007. Founded in 1976, the CAC meets with the Board of Governors three times a year in Washington D.C. to advise the Fed on issues including fair lending, community development and consumer protection. The role allows CCCSDV to help impact and shape federal public policy and federal consumer protections on behalf of the individuals and communities in which we serve.

2006
CCCSDV Selected as Partner in Long-Term Homeownership Study Commissioned by The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia

CCCSDV was selected by The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia to provide homeownership education and counseling as part of a five-year study to understand the effectiveness of homeownership counseling and education. Recruitment events, followed by two-hour workshops and one-on-one counseling began in 2007 and will continue through 2012.

Philadelphia Business Journal, Women of Distinction

Patricia Hasson, CCCSDV president was selected as one of the Philadelphia Business Journal and National Association of Women Business Owner's 2006 Women of Distinction. Each year, 25 of the region's most dynamic women who are making headlines in their professional field and in their community receive this prestigious award.

September 2006

The National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) honored Stephanie Bittner of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley with its Outstanding Individual Counselor Award. The award is given annually to one credit counselor who demonstrates significant leadership among his/her peers, within the national credit counseling sector, and in helping clients get back on track financially.

Philadelphia Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Patricia Hasson, President of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley for her agencies commitment to stabilizing neighborhoods and improving the quality of life for individuals and families in the Greater Philadelphia area.

November 2004
The United States Attorney's Office Recognition for
Predatory Lending Education Program

The United States Attorney's office in the Eastern District of PA presented an award to CCCSDV for its work in creating a consumer education program to stop predatory lending, which serves as a model for a community approach to law enforcement and shows that the best way to address a community problem is to get the whole community involved.

Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Non-Profit Organization
of the Year Small Business Excellence Award

Each year the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce recognizes the success, achievement, leadership and innovation of business with 100 employees or less. In 2003 the award was given to CCCSDV for its commitment to economic success for the region by helping area residents gain fiscal control of their lives. They recognized that CCCSDV is an economic development organization that enriches the lives and increases the financial acumen of people in communities throughout the Greater Delaware Valley.
