Sponsor Citi Helps Launch Women's Financial Education Program in Philadelphia

CCCSDV, with the help of program sponsor, Citi, kicked off From Purses to Portfolios, a Financial Education Program for Women on January 26th.

From Purses to Portfolios is a program to enable women to become more knowledgeable and educated in order to make smarter financial choices. The ultimate goal of the program is for women to achieve greater financial independence for themselves and their families by attending classes and workshops over time.

The response to the initial kick-off was phenomenal! Over 600 women registered for the event with 275 women attending. The program is not a one-time event. Women will attend workshops throughout the year and continue their financial learning.

From Purses to Portfolios began in 2004 in Delaware as a small financial literacy program for women managed by the Delaware Financial Literacy Institute (DFLI) and sponsored by Citi. The program has flourished and expanded over the years.

The Citi Financial Education Program, based on the belief that knowledge is your greatest asset, is a global, company-wide effort to identify, support and implement initiatives that help give individuals, families and communities the tools needed to make sound financial decisions. Citi's 10-year, $200 million global commitment is focused in three areas: Personal, Small Business and Institutional Financial Education.
