Counseling & Education
Our comprehensive counseling services and educational programs have expanded in our 42-year history to meet the diverse and increasingly complex financial needs of our clients and the communities in which they live.
In our counseling session, our focus is to help you with your unique situation. We do it by helping you to analyze, understand and get control of your personal finances. People from every income level come to us for very personal reasons that impact their financial well being:
- Overwhelming debt
- Overextension of credit
- Poor credit history
- Health related emergencies
- Major life changes
- Reduction in income
- Threat of Bankruptcy
- First-Time Homeowner
Others may just want advice and ideas for planning a budget or saving. Some are looking to purchase their first home or are having difficulty paying their mortgage. Whatever the reasons, CCCSDV is here to help.
As a community-based organization, we are able to connect our clients to a multitude of additional programs and services, such as LIHEAP, Energy Saving Tips, free tax preparation, food assistance, etc.
Our education staff provides financial education on a variety of topics including, budgeting, credit, money management, basic banking services, housing, anti-predatory lending, identity theft and savings. Many of our programs are offered on a regular basis and are open to the public. Most workshops are funded by grants and offered at no cost to participants.
